Description

This Asparagus & Gruyère ‘Spring Garden’ Tart is a delightful and easy-to-make recipe that celebrates the flavors of spring. The flaky crust, tender asparagus spears, and melted Gruyère cheese create a harmonious and satisfying dish that’s perfect for a light meal or appetizer.

Ingredients

– 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed

– 1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces

– 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese

– 2 tablespoons olive oil

– Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. Unfold the puff pastry sheet and place it on a lightly floured surface. Roll it out to a 12-inch square.

3. Transfer the puff pastry to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

4. Arrange the asparagus pieces in a single layer on the puff pastry, leaving a 1-inch border.

5. Sprinkle the shredded Gruyère cheese evenly over the asparagus.

6. Fold the pastry edges over the filling, creating a rustic, free-form tart.

7. Brush the pastry edges with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

8. Bake the tart for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

9. Remove the tart from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a variation, you can add sliced mushrooms, caramelized onions, or other spring vegetables to the tart. The tart can also be served at room temperature as an appetizer.
