Description

Bánh Tiêu (Vietnamese Donuts!) are a delightful, light, and crispy fried pastry that are a beloved treat in Vietnamese cuisine. These quick and easy-to-make donuts are perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth or serving as a shareable snack.

Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon instant yeast

– 1/4 cup white sugar

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 3/4 cup warm water

– 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, plus more for frying

– Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add the warm water and vegetable oil, and mix until a smooth dough forms.

2. Cover the dough and let it rest for 10 minutes.

3. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each piece into a small, smooth ball.

4. In a large, heavy-bottomed pan or Dutch oven, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F.

5. Carefully drop the dough balls into the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.

6. Remove the fried donuts from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

7. While still warm, dust the Bánh Tiêu (Vietnamese Donuts!) generously with powdered sugar.

8. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, make sure the oil is at the proper temperature before frying the donuts. This will ensure they cook evenly and become crispy on the outside while remaining light and fluffy on the inside. These donuts are best enjoyed fresh, but you can store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
