Description

Indulge in the ultimate autumn treat with this homemade Caramel Apple Crisp. Tender, spiced apples are blanketed in a rich caramel sauce and topped with a crunchy, buttery crumble for the perfect balance of flavors and textures.

Ingredients

– 6 cups peeled, sliced apples (about 6-8 medium apples)

– 1/2 cup brown sugar

– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

– 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

– 1 cup all-purpose flour

– 1 cup old-fashioned oats

– 1/2 cup brown sugar

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cubed

Instructions

1. – Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2. – In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with 1/2 cup brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread the apple mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.

3. – In a medium bowl, combine the 1 cup flour, oats, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and salt. Cut in the 1/2 cup cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apple mixture.

4. – Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.

5. – Serve warm, with a drizzle of caramel sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.

Notes

– For a thicker caramel sauce, you can make your own by cooking 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup butter in a saucepan until thickened.

– Experiment with different apple varieties for different flavors and textures.

– This can be made in advance and reheated before serving.
