Ingredients
– 1 loaf Cuban bread or soft French bread, sliced lengthwise
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 6 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 teaspoon dried oregano
– 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
– 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
– Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
1. – Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. – In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, oregano, cumin, and cayenne pepper (if using). Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
3. – Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
4. – Place the bread, cut-side up, on a baking sheet and toast in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until the bread is golden and crisp.
5. – Remove the bread from the oven and assemble the sandwiches by placing your desired fillings (such as ham, roasted pork, Swiss cheese, pickles, etc.) between the toasted bread slices.
6. – Slice the sandwiches into individual portions and serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley or cilantro if desired.
