Ingredients
– 12 ounces fresh cranberries
– 3 jalapeño peppers, seeded and finely chopped
– 1 1/2 cups white granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon ground cumin
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, jalapeños, sugar, cumin, and salt.
2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries have popped and the sugar has dissolved, about 10 minutes.
3. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring frequently, until the mixture has thickened to a jam-like consistency, about 15-20 minutes.
4. Remove the pan from heat and let the Cranberry Jalapeño Cowboy Candy cool completely, about 30 minutes.
5. Transfer the cooled mixture to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or up to 2 weeks.
Notes
The longer the Cranberry Jalapeño Cowboy Candy sits, the more the flavors will meld and the spicier it will become. Serve at room temperature or chilled, with crackers, toasted bread, or as a topping for cream cheese.
