Ingredients

– 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

– 1 cup warm milk

– 1/4 cup granulated sugar

– 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

1. – In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

2. – Add the melted butter, salt, and 2 cups of the flour. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.

3. – Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, adding the remaining 1 1/2 cups of flour as needed, until the dough is smooth and elastic.

4. – Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

5. – Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a smooth ball.

6. – Place the rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.

7. – Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

8. – Bake the rolls for 18-22 minutes, or until golden brown.

9. – Serve warm, with butter if desired.

Notes

– For softer rolls, brush the tops with melted butter after baking.

– Freeze baked rolls for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven before serving.
