Description

Elevate your breakfast or dessert with the unique and captivating flavor of homemade Fireweed Syrup. Crafted from the delicate, floral blossoms of the fireweed plant, this syrup boasts a beautiful reddish-purple hue and a delightfully sweet, herbal taste that pairs perfectly with pancakes, waffles, ice cream, and more.

Ingredients

– 2 cups fresh fireweed blossoms

– 2 cups white sugar

– 2 cups water

Instructions

1. In a medium saucepan, combine the fireweed blossoms, sugar, and water. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar has fully dissolved.

2. Reduce the heat to low and let the syrup simmer for 15-20 minutes, allowing the fireweed flavor to infuse the liquid.

3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the syrup cool slightly. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible.

4. Transfer the strained fireweed syrup to a clean glass jar or bottle and let it cool completely at room temperature before sealing and refrigerating.

Notes

The fireweed syrup will keep for up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator. For a thicker consistency, you can simmer the syrup for a few minutes longer. Consider adding a touch of lemon juice or vanilla extract to complement the floral notes.
