Description

Indulge in the rich, savory flavors of a juicy Flying Dutchman Burger nestled between sweet, caramelized onion buns for a comfort food classic that’s ready in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

– 1 lb ground beef

– 4 slices cheddar cheese

– 4 brioche buns

– 2 onions, thinly sliced

– 2 tbsp butter

– 1 tbsp brown sugar

– 1 tsp balsamic vinegar

– Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. 1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until caramelized and golden brown, about 20-25 minutes.

2. 2. During the last 5 minutes of cooking the onions, stir in the brown sugar and balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and pepper.

3. 3. Form the ground beef into four equal-sized patties, seasoning both sides with salt and pepper.

4. 4. Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked through.

5. 5. Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

6. 6. Toast the brioche buns until golden brown.

7. 7. Assemble the burgers by placing the beef patty on the bottom bun, topping with the caramelized onions, and finishing with the top bun.

Notes

For a spicy kick, add a dollop of chipotle mayo to the buns. The caramelized onions can be made in advance and reheated when ready to assemble the burgers.
