Description
Crispy, golden-brown fried feta rolls drizzled with a sweet and spicy chili honey sauce. These irresistible appetizers are sure to be the hit of any party or gathering.
Ingredients
– 8 ounces feta cheese, crumbled
– 8 sheets phyllo dough
– 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
– 1/2 cup honey
– 2 tablespoons sriracha or other hot sauce
– 1 teaspoon ground cumin
– 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
– 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. In a small bowl, combine the crumbled feta cheese.
3. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean, dry surface and brush it lightly with melted butter. Place a second sheet of phyllo on top and brush with butter.
4. Place a heaping tablespoon of the feta cheese mixture near the bottom of the phyllo sheets. Fold the bottom edge over the filling, then fold in the sides and continue rolling up tightly to form a cylinder.
5. Repeat steps 3-4 with the remaining phyllo sheets and feta to make 8 rolls.
6. Place the rolls seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the phyllo is golden brown and crispy.
8. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, sriracha, cumin, paprika, cayenne, and salt. Heat over low, stirring occasionally, until warmed through.
9. Drizzle the warm chili honey sauce over the freshly baked fried feta rolls and serve immediately.
Notes
For extra crispiness, you can fry the rolls in hot oil for 2-3 minutes instead of baking. The chili honey sauce can be made ahead of time and reheated as needed.
