Description

Ful Medames is a beloved Egyptian breakfast dish made with nourishing fava beans and creamy tahini. This quick and easy recipe delivers an authentic and comforting start to your day.

Ingredients

– 1 (15-ounce) can fava beans, drained and rinsed

– 2 tablespoons tahini

– 2 tablespoons lemon juice

– 1 clove garlic, minced

– 1 teaspoon ground cumin

– 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

– 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

– Salt and pepper to taste

– Chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions

1. In a medium bowl, mash the drained and rinsed fava beans with a fork or potato masher, leaving some texture.

2. Add the tahini, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, and cayenne pepper (if using). Stir to combine.

3. Drizzle in the olive oil and season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir well to incorporate.

4. Serve the Ful Medames warm, garnished with chopped parsley. Enjoy with warm pita bread, if desired.

Notes

– For a creamier texture, blend the fava bean mixture in a food processor instead of mashing. – Customize the flavors by adjusting the amount of lemon juice, garlic, or spices to your liking. – Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
