This delicious Ground Turkey Orzo recipe is a quick and easy weeknight meal that’s packed with flavor. Tender ground turkey and chewy orzo pasta come together in a one-pot dish that’s perfect for busy families.
Ingredients
– 1 lb ground turkey
– 1 onion, diced
– 3 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes
– 1 cup uncooked orzo pasta
– 2 cups chicken broth
– 1 tsp dried oregano
– 1/2 tsp dried basil
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
1. 1. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, cook the ground turkey over medium-high heat, breaking it up as it cooks, until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
2. 2. Add the diced onion and garlic to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, until the onion is translucent.
3. 3. Stir in the diced tomatoes, uncooked orzo, chicken broth, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
4. 4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
5. 5. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped parsley. Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add a splash of red wine vinegar or lemon juice at the end. This dish also pairs well with a fresh green salad.
