Ingredients
– 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon baking soda
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 3/4 cup granulated sugar
– 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 2 large eggs
– 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
– 1/2 cup orange and black candy melts or Halloween sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
1. – Preheat oven to 375°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. – In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
3. – In a large bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Beat in the vanilla and then the eggs one at a time until combined.
4. – Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips and candy melts/sprinkles (if using).
5. – Scoop dough by the tablespoonful onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
6. – Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
7. – Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For an extra festive touch, add a few drops of orange or black food coloring to the dough. You can also substitute pumpkin pie spice for the vanilla extract. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
