Ingredients
– 1 pound ground beef
– 1 onion, diced
– 1 bell pepper, diced
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes
– 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
– 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
– 1 teaspoon dried oregano
– 1 teaspoon dried basil
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
2. In a large oven-safe skillet or casserole dish, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned and crumbled, about 5-7 minutes.
3. Add the diced onion and bell pepper to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes, until softened.
4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
5. Pour in the diced tomatoes and tomato sauce, and season with oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
6. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.
7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
8. Serve hot, garnished with additional fresh herbs if desired.
