Description

Celebrate the spooky season with these festive Jack-O’-Lantern Calzones! These easy-to-make calzones feature a pumpkin-shaped crust filled with melted mozzarella cheese and pepperoni for a delicious and creative Halloween treat.

Ingredients

– 1 batch of pizza dough

– 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

– 1 cup pepperoni slices

– 1 cup marinara or pizza sauce

– 1 teaspoon dried oregano

– 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1. 1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. 2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, about 1/4-inch thick.

3. 3. Using a pumpkin-shaped cookie cutter or a sharp knife, cut out pumpkin shapes from the dough.

4. 4. Place the pumpkin-shaped dough pieces on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

5. 5. In a bowl, mix together the mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, oregano, garlic powder, and salt.

6. 6. Spoon the cheese mixture onto the center of each pumpkin-shaped dough piece, leaving a 1-inch border.

7. 7. Fold the dough over the filling to create a calzone shape, and press the edges to seal.

8. 8. Bake the calzones for 18-20 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

9. 9. Serve the Jack-O’-Lantern Calzones warm, with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

For a healthier option, you can use turkey pepperoni or substitute the pepperoni with diced vegetables like bell peppers or onions. The calzones can also be made ahead and frozen, then reheated in the oven when ready to serve.
