Ingredients
– 1 (8 oz) can crescent roll dough
– 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
– 1/2 cup powdered sugar
– 1-2 tablespoons milk
– Purple, green, and gold sanding sugar, for topping
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Unroll the crescent roll dough and press the seams together to form a large rectangle.
3. In a small bowl, stir together the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the dough.
4. Tightly roll up the dough, starting from the short side. Cut into 8 equal pieces.
5. Place the rolls, cut-side up, on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.
6. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, powdered sugar, and enough milk to make a drizzling consistency.
7. Drizzle the glaze over the warm cinnamon rolls and sprinkle with the colored sanding sugars.
8. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
For an extra festive touch, use a King Cake-inspired color scheme with purple, green, and gold sanding sugars. You can also add a small plastic baby figurine to the center of one of the rolls for a traditional King Cake surprise.
