Description

Indulge in the rich, gooey flavors of Maple Caramel Pecan Sticky Babka – a decadent twist on a classic pastry that’s perfect for any occasion. This irresistible babka features a buttery, soft dough filled with a luscious maple caramel and crunchy pecans, creating a heavenly, sticky-sweet treat.

Ingredients

– 3 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1/4 cup granulated sugar

– 1 packet active dry yeast

– 1/2 cup warm milk

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 2 large eggs

– 1 cup packed brown sugar

– 1/2 cup maple syrup

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

– 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, granulated sugar, and yeast. Add the warm milk, softened butter, and eggs. Mix until a dough forms.

2. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

4. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, maple syrup, and melted butter to make the maple caramel filling.

5. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a large rectangle, about 12×18 inches.

6. Spread the maple caramel filling over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the filling.

7. Tightly roll up the dough, starting from the short side, to form a log. Pinch the seam to seal.

8. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces. Place the pieces, cut-side up, in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.

9. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.

10. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the babka is golden brown.

11. Let cool for 10 minutes, then serve warm.

Notes

For an extra-gooey texture, you can add a drizzle of additional maple syrup over the top of the babka before baking. Leftover babka can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
