Description

Indulge in the perfect balance of earthy matcha and sweet vanilla in this homemade Matcha Vanilla Bean Frosting. This luscious topping is ideal for cakes, cupcakes, and other desserts, adding a vibrant green hue and rich, creamy texture.

Ingredients

– 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

– 4 cups powdered sugar

– 2 tablespoons high-quality matcha powder

– 1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise and seeds scraped

– 2 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

2. Gradually add the powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, beating well after each addition until fully incorporated.

3. Scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean and add them to the butter-sugar mixture, along with the matcha powder. Beat on medium-high speed until well combined and the frosting is smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.

4. Add the heavy cream and continue mixing until the frosting is light and airy, about 1 minute more.

5. Use the Matcha Vanilla Bean Frosting immediately to top cakes, cupcakes, or other desserts, or refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Notes

For a thicker, more pipeable consistency, refrigerate the frosting for 30 minutes before using. Leftover frosting can be frozen for up to 3 months.
