Ingredients

– 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed if frozen

– 3 Honeycrisp apples, cored and thinly sliced

– 1/4 cup granulated sugar

– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin.

2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface into a 12×12-inch square.

3. In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon.

4. Arrange the apple slices in overlapping rows, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the apples.

5. Starting from one side, tightly roll up the puff pastry and apples to form a spiral.

6. Slice the rolled puff pastry into 12 equal pieces and place each piece into a muffin cup.

7. Brush the tops of the tarts with the melted butter.

8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are tender.

9. Allow the tarts to cool in the muffin tin for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a variation, try using different types of apples or adding a drizzle of caramel sauce or a dusting of powdered sugar on top.
