Description

Ingredients

– 1 cup all-purpose flour

– 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

– 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

– 1 cup granulated sugar

– 2 large eggs

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– 1 tablespoon red food coloring

– 8 ounces cream cheese, softened

– 1/4 cup granulated sugar

– 1 egg yolk

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan and line with parchment paper, leaving a 2-inch overhang on two sides.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

3. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and 1 cup of sugar. Beat in the 2 eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla until well combined. Stir in the red food coloring.

4. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.

5. In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese, 1/4 cup of sugar, egg yolk, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla until smooth and creamy.

6. Spread the red velvet brownie batter evenly into the prepared pan. Dollop the cheesecake mixture on top and use a knife to swirl it into the batter.

7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. These brownies can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
