Description

Sausage Broccoli Orzo is a quick and flavorful pasta dish that’s perfect for busy weeknights. Tender orzo, juicy sausage, and crisp broccoli come together in a savory and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

– 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed

– 3 cups broccoli florets

– 1 cup uncooked orzo pasta

– 2 cups chicken broth

– 3 cloves garlic, minced

– 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

– 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

– Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. 1. In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium-high heat, breaking it up as it cooks, until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

2. 2. Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes, until the broccoli starts to soften.

3. 3. Stir in the uncooked orzo and chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 12-15 minutes, or until the orzo is tender and the liquid is absorbed.

4. 4. Remove from heat and stir in the minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, and chopped parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

5. 5. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

This dish can be easily customized by swapping the Italian sausage for another type of sausage, or by adding other vegetables like bell peppers or cherry tomatoes. For a creamier texture, you can stir in a splash of heavy cream or half-and-half at the end.
