Description

Elevate your breakfast routine with these savory, flaky pop-tarts filled with melted cheese and fragrant herbs. Ready in just 30 minutes, they make a delicious and satisfying morning treat.

Ingredients

– 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

– 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Gruyère, or a blend)

– 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs (such as thyme, rosemary, or chives)

– 1 egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water for egg wash

Instructions

1. – Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. – Unfold the puff pastry sheet and cut it into 6 equal rectangles.

3. – In a small bowl, mix together the shredded cheese and chopped herbs.

4. – Place 3 of the pastry rectangles on the prepared baking sheet. Spoon the cheese-herb mixture onto the center of each rectangle, leaving a 1/2-inch border.

5. – Brush the exposed borders of the pastry with the egg wash.

6. – Top each filled rectangle with another pastry rectangle and press the edges to seal.

7. – Use a fork to crimp and seal the edges of the pop-tarts.

8. – Brush the tops of the pop-tarts with the remaining egg wash.

9. – Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.

10. – Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a crispier crust, you can brush the tops of the pop-tarts with melted butter or a light coating of olive oil before baking. Experiment with different cheese and herb combinations to suit your taste.
