Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

– 2 teaspoons baking powder

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 3 large eggs

– 1 cup whole milk

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– Zest of 1 lemon

– 1 cup fresh berries (such as raspberries, blueberries, or strawberries)


Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

3. In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

4. Slowly pour in the milk and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.

5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Fold in the lemon zest and fresh berries.

6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
