Description
Indulge in the comforting and flavorful Steak and Onion Meat Pie, a homemade delight that’s perfect for busy weeknights. Tender beef, caramelized onions, and a buttery, flaky crust come together in this irresistible dish.
Ingredients
– 1 pound lean ground beef
– 2 large onions, thinly sliced
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
– 1 teaspoon dried thyme
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
– 2 sheets refrigerated pie crust
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned and crumbled, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
3. Add the sliced onions to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until caramelized and softened, about 10-12 minutes.
4. Stir in the minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
5. Unroll one sheet of pie crust and press it into a 9-inch pie dish. Spoon the beef and onion mixture into the crust.
6. Unroll the second sheet of pie crust and place it over the filling. Crimp the edges to seal and create a decorative pattern, if desired.
7. Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
8. Bake the Steak and Onion Meat Pie for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
9. Allow the pie to cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, you can add a splash of red wine or beef broth to the filling. You can also experiment with different herbs, such as rosemary or parsley, to customize the taste to your liking.
