Description

These classic Thanksgiving Mashed Potatoes are the ultimate comfort food – creamy, buttery, and perfectly seasoned. They’re the perfect side dish to serve alongside your holiday turkey and all the trimmings.

Ingredients

– 5 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes

– 1 cup whole milk

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 1 tsp salt

– 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

Instructions

1. – Place the cubed potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water.

2. – Bring the water to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, until the potatoes are very tender when pierced with a fork.

3. – Drain the potatoes and return them to the hot pot for 1-2 minutes to evaporate any remaining moisture.

4. – Add the milk, butter, salt, and pepper, then mash the potatoes with a potato masher or hand mixer until smooth and creamy.

5. – Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

6. – Serve the Thanksgiving Mashed Potatoes hot, garnished with additional butter, chives, or crumbled bacon if desired.

Notes

– For extra creamy potatoes, use a ricer or food mill instead of mashing.

– Try adding roasted garlic or shredded cheese for extra flavor.

– Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days and reheated on the stovetop or in the microwave.
