Description

Indulge in the creamy, cheesy goodness of Baked Gouda Cheese Grits – a comforting and flavorful dish that’s ready in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

– 2 cups stone-ground grits

– 4 cups milk

– 1 cup shredded gouda cheese

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter

– 2 large eggs, beaten

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. In a large saucepan, bring the milk to a simmer over medium heat. Slowly whisk in the grits and cook, stirring constantly, until the grits are thick and creamy, about 15-20 minutes.

3. Remove the grits from the heat and stir in the shredded gouda cheese, butter, beaten eggs, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

4. Transfer the cheesy grits mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

6. Serve hot, garnished with additional chopped chives or green onions, if desired.

Notes

For a creamier texture, use a combination of cheddar and gouda cheese. You can also add diced ham, crumbled bacon, or sautéed mushrooms for extra flavor.
