Description

Discover the delightful flavors of homemade Candied Orange Peel! This easy, 15-minute recipe transforms orange peels into a sweet, zesty treat that can elevate your baking, cocktails, and more.

Ingredients

– 3 oranges

– 1 cup white sugar

– 1 cup water

Instructions

1. Peel the oranges, removing just the orange part of the peel, avoiding the bitter white pith.

2. Place the orange peels in a small saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil and let simmer for 10 minutes. Drain the peels and repeat this process 2-3 times to remove bitterness.

3. In the same saucepan, combine the blanched orange peels, sugar, and 1 cup of water. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the peels are translucent and the syrup has thickened.

4. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the candied orange peels to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Allow to cool completely, then store in an airtight container.

Notes

– For chunkier candied peels, slice the peels into 1/4-inch wide strips before boiling.

– Use the candied peels to garnish desserts, cocktails, or enjoy as a sweet snack.

– Store candied peels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
