Description

Cheddar and Herb Soda Bread is a delicious, easy-to-make quick bread that’s perfect for busy weeknights or weekend brunch. The combination of cheddar cheese and fresh herbs creates a savory, flavorful loaf that’s ready in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon baking soda

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1 cup buttermilk

– 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

– 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

– 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs (such as rosemary, thyme, and chives)

Instructions

1. – Preheat the oven to 400°F. Grease a 9-inch round baking pan.

2. – In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

3. – Add the buttermilk and melted butter, and stir just until combined. Do not overmix.

4. – Fold in the cheddar cheese and fresh herbs.

5. – Transfer the dough to the prepared baking pan and shape it into a round loaf.

6. – Bake for 18-20 minutes, until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

7. – Allow the bread to cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For best results, use freshly grated cheddar cheese and a mix of your favorite herbs. The bread can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
