Description
Indulge in the vibrant flavors of Grandma’s homemade Dragon Fruit Pie Crust. This flaky, golden-brown pastry crust is made with fresh dragon fruit, delivering a delightful tropical twist to your favorite pies and desserts.
Ingredients
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
– 1/4 cup granulated sugar
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 1 medium dragon fruit, peeled and diced
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, chilled cubed butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Use a pastry cutter or two forks to cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
2. Gently fold in the diced dragon fruit, being careful not to overmix.
3. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gather it into a ball. Flatten the ball into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
4. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
5. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a circle large enough to fit your pie dish. Carefully transfer the dough to the pie dish and gently press it into the bottom and up the sides.
6. Trim any excess dough from the edges, then crimp or flute the edges as desired.
7. Bake the pie crust for 18-22 minutes, or until it’s golden brown. Allow the crust to cool completely before filling and baking your desired pie.
Notes
For a sweeter crust, you can increase the sugar to 1/3 cup. The dragon fruit can also be substituted with other fresh, diced fruit for a different flavor profile.
