These easy-to-make French Dip Squares are the perfect appetizer or party snack. Featuring tender roast beef, melted provolone cheese, and a buttery, flaky crust, they’re sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients
– 12 slices French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
– 1 pound thinly sliced roast beef
– 8 ounces provolone cheese, shredded
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
– 1 teaspoon dried oregano
– 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. Arrange the bread cubes in a single layer in the prepared baking dish.
3. Top the bread with the sliced roast beef, then sprinkle the shredded provolone cheese over the top.
4. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, oregano, garlic powder, and black pepper. Drizzle the butter mixture over the top of the cheese.
5. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the edges are golden brown.
6. Serve hot, with a side of au jus dipping sauce if desired.
Notes
For best results, use high-quality roast beef and provolone cheese. You can also experiment with different cheese varieties, such as cheddar or Swiss. These squares can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving.
