Description

Homemade Green Apple Syrup is a quick and easy recipe that creates a sweet, tangy syrup perfect for topping pancakes, waffles, or even as a dessert topping. Made with fresh green apples, sugar, and a hint of lemon, this versatile syrup unlocks the bright, bold flavors of green apples.

Ingredients

– 4 cups chopped green apples (about 4 medium apples)

– 1 cup granulated sugar

– 1 cup water

– 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

1. In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped green apples, sugar, and water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.

2. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the apples are very soft and the liquid has thickened to a syrupy consistency.

3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the lemon juice.

4. Carefully pour the hot apple mixture through a fine-mesh strainer, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids.

5. Transfer the strained green apple syrup to a clean, heatproof jar or bottle. Allow to cool completely before covering and refrigerating.

Notes

The green apple syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. It’s delicious drizzled over pancakes, waffles, or even used as a topping for ice cream or yogurt. For a thicker consistency, you can simmer the mixture for a few minutes longer.
