Description

Indulge in the rich, caramelized flavors of this easy Onion Boil Recipe. Tender, simmered onions are the star of this quick and comforting dish, perfect as a side, appetizer, or light meal.

Ingredients

– 4 large yellow onions, thinly sliced

– 2 tablespoons olive oil

– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

– 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat.

2. Add the sliced onions and sauté, stirring occasionally, for 10-12 minutes until the onions are softened and starting to caramelize.

3. Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth and season with salt and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

4. Reduce the heat to low and let the onions simmer, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes until the onions are very tender and the liquid has reduced by half.

5. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve the Onion Boil Recipe warm, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use a combination of olive oil and butter. You can also add a splash of dry white wine or sherry to the broth for extra depth. Serve the Onion Boil Recipe as a side dish, appetizer, or light main course.
