Description

Indulge in the delightful aroma and flavor of this Orange Cardamom Breakfast Bread Twist, a perfect addition to your morning routine. This irresistible pastry combines the zesty notes of orange with the warm, spicy essence of cardamom, creating a truly captivating breakfast treat.

Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon baking powder

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 3/4 cup granulated sugar

– 2 large eggs

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– 1 tablespoon orange zest

– 1 teaspoon ground cardamom

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a large baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract, orange zest, and ground cardamom.

5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.

6. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a rectangle, approximately 12×8 inches.

7. Starting from the long side, tightly roll the dough into a spiral, forming a log.

8. Slice the log into 1-inch thick pieces and arrange them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.

9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the twists are golden brown and the center is cooked through.

10. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, use fresh, high-quality oranges and cardamom. You can also experiment with different spice blends or a cream cheese frosting drizzle.
