Ingredients
– 3 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
– 2 cups heavy cream
– 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
– 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
– 2 garlic cloves, minced
– 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced potatoes, heavy cream, Gruyère cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper. Toss gently to coat the potatoes.
3. Grease a 12-cup muffin tin. Arrange the potato slices vertically in the muffin cups, starting from the outer edge and working your way in to form a rose shape.
4. Pour any remaining cream mixture from the bowl over the potatoes in the muffin cups.
5. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the tops are golden brown.
6. Allow the Rose-Shaped Potato Gratin Stacks to cool for 5-10 minutes before carefully removing them from the muffin tin.
7. Serve warm, garnished with additional fresh thyme if desired.
Notes
For a richer flavor, you can substitute heavy cream with a combination of cream and milk. Experiment with different types of cheese, such as cheddar or fontina, to suit your taste preferences.
