Ingredients

– 1 pound ground beef

– 4 tablespoons tallow

– 8 slices sourdough bread

– 4 slices cheddar cheese

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt and pepper until well combined.

2. Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and form them into patties.

3. Heat 2 tablespoons of tallow in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

4. Fry the patties for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they’re cooked through and have a crispy, golden crust.

5. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.

6. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of tallow to the skillet.

7. Place 4 slices of sourdough bread in the skillet and toast them until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side.

8. Place a beef patty on each of the 4 toasted bread slices, then top with a slice of cheddar cheese.

9. Place the remaining 4 bread slices on top to create 4 sandwiches.

10. Serve the Tallow-Fried Sourdough Patty Melts immediately while hot and enjoy!

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add sautéed onions, mushrooms, or other toppings to the patties before assembling the sandwiches. The tallow gives the patties a delicious, crispy crust and rich flavor.
