Description

Swap out traditional buns for fresh zucchini slices to create a delicious, low-carb twist on classic hot dogs. These Zucchini Bun Hot Dogs are easy to make, packed with flavor, and a healthier option for your summer grilling lineup.

Ingredients

– 4 medium zucchinis, sliced lengthwise into 1/4-inch thick slices

– 8 all-beef hot dogs

– 2 tablespoons olive oil

– 1 teaspoon garlic powder

– 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

– 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

– Salt and pepper to taste

– Desired hot dog toppings (e.g., mustard, ketchup, relish, onions)

Instructions

1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.

2. Slice the zucchinis lengthwise into 1/4-inch thick slices.

3. Brush the zucchini slices with olive oil and season with garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper.

4. Grill the zucchini slices for 2-3 minutes per side, until lightly charred and tender.

5. Grill the hot dogs for 5-7 minutes, rotating occasionally, until heated through and lightly charred.

6. Assemble the Zucchini Bun Hot Dogs by placing a hot dog on a grilled zucchini slice and topping with your desired condiments.

7. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For a crunchier ‘bun,’ grill the zucchini slices for an extra minute or two. Feel free to experiment with different toppings and seasonings to suit your taste preferences.
